hi

Jean broke the blogger silence!

Hi Jean! So glad to hear that you are enjoying the post wedding time with the new hubby! I wish we all lived a lot closer!

Sad news on my end - you all remember my dog Meisha, right? Well both Meisha and my sister's black lab, Pepper have been under my mom's care for the past year and a half or so. As both are big dogs, we all knew that past the age of 10 yrs, those dogs could go at any time. Pepper has had cancer for a long time, the vets had her on meds for awhile and only expected her to live until last May, but she's kept pushing on, seemed happier off the meds than on, so we've let her do her thing. Meisha has been the ultimate trooper, opening up her domain to Pepper, who will eat everything in sight if given the chance. Meisha has a degenerative spinal problem and as a result her back legs are pretty much becoming useless. She can no longer walk up stairs and has a hard time getting up. My mom has been holding off on putting them down because it's not an easy decision for anyone to make and Meisha has been a constant companion to her since before my dad passed away. Today they are being put down, my sister Stacey is in town with baby Sophia and the dogs are not handling the commotion well. It is so sad, Meisha has been a living reminder of life before my Dad has been gone and it almost seems as if another chapter is closing in our lives.

Stacey is in the process of moving back to Minnesota so I'm glad that my niece will be closer to my Mom and help fill the void a bit, but I know the dogs will be sorely missed!
