hi all

I hope the reason why the board has been so quiet is that everyone is leading busy and fulfilled lives!

The weather here in Chicago has been gorgeous lately - and it's gotten me in the habit of taking walks along Lake Michigan during lunch.

Our Tut exhibit finally opened up at the end of May and since then, I feel like a big weight has been lifted off of my shoulders - everyone around work was getting so incredibly tense worrying about what could potentially go wrong with the opening weekend of the exhibit that it was really getting a bit too much to deal with. I started breaking out in hives!

Matt is graduating in 2 weeks with a 4.0 average! I am so happy for him, it's taken him a long time to go back to school and although Devry was not his first option, it will get him a degree which is the goal! To celebrate, we are going to a Radiohead concert (his favorite band) in a few weeks. It should be fun!

I hope all is well with all of you!

hi ladies!

Hi All -

I hope everyone is doing well! This weekend was a big one for the Reeves-Gaines household, not only did we see my sister and her family for the last time before they move back to Minnesota, (it was actually very sad for more reasons than just missing my niece and my sister) but Matt cleaned out his "computer cave" as I call it and I never thought I would ever see the floor of that room before we moved. Matt is at heart a slob when it comes to his surroundings and he brings out my slobby tendencies as well. It's been a big problem and I am constantly trying to get him to pick up more. And then he surprises me by saying that even HE has hit a saturation point with his messiness and that it needed to be done! I almost dropped to the floor.

Anyway, my other news is that my boss just asked me if I would be willing to teach a masters program class at the Art Institute this fall - I would be co-teaching it and it would be on Museum marketing and online practices (the masters program is Arts Administration). I am so excited! I find out more about it later this week, but I think it will be a lot of fun and challenging too.

hi

Jean broke the blogger silence!

Hi Jean! So glad to hear that you are enjoying the post wedding time with the new hubby! I wish we all lived a lot closer!

Sad news on my end - you all remember my dog Meisha, right? Well both Meisha and my sister's black lab, Pepper have been under my mom's care for the past year and a half or so. As both are big dogs, we all knew that past the age of 10 yrs, those dogs could go at any time. Pepper has had cancer for a long time, the vets had her on meds for awhile and only expected her to live until last May, but she's kept pushing on, seemed happier off the meds than on, so we've let her do her thing. Meisha has been the ultimate trooper, opening up her domain to Pepper, who will eat everything in sight if given the chance. Meisha has a degenerative spinal problem and as a result her back legs are pretty much becoming useless. She can no longer walk up stairs and has a hard time getting up. My mom has been holding off on putting them down because it's not an easy decision for anyone to make and Meisha has been a constant companion to her since before my dad passed away. Today they are being put down, my sister Stacey is in town with baby Sophia and the dogs are not handling the commotion well. It is so sad, Meisha has been a living reminder of life before my Dad has been gone and it almost seems as if another chapter is closing in our lives.

Stacey is in the process of moving back to Minnesota so I'm glad that my niece will be closer to my Mom and help fill the void a bit, but I know the dogs will be sorely missed!
